Train in need

A new biweekly train to Okha/Rajkot from Mysuru (MYS) via Bengaluru (SBC), Hubballi (UBL), Belagavi (BGM), Pune, Kalyan (KYN)/Vasai road (BSR), Vadodara (BRC), Ahmedabad (ADI), Rajkot (RJT) and Jamnagar (JAM).

The train provides connectivity to Saurashtra regions

To date, there is no single dedicated train to the Saurashtra region of Gujarat from Mysuru/Bengaluru/Hubballi. Saurashtra region comprises 11 districts and the Diu Union Territory. The region is famous for many famed Hindu & Jain temples (pilgrimage centers) apart from hosting numerous Wildlife parks & tourist spots. Notable temples include – the SOMNATH TEMPLE, first all the twelve Jyotirlingas, DEVBHUMI DWARKA is also the third pilgrimage site of Chardham Yatra, GIRNAR HILLS – sacred hills for Hindus & Jains (866 temples on 5 hills) and many others.

Rajkot is the major commercial city located in the Saurashtra region, from where well-established tour packages are available to Dwarka, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Somnath, Diu, Jhunagad, Gir forest, and other tourist towns. The city is well connected by road and rail. The above-mentioned sites are all within 100-300 KM of Rajkot, providing an excellent central place for tourists to disembark towards tourist sites.

Likewise, the residents of Saurashtra can explore the beauty of South interior Karnataka abound with magnificent temples, palaces, wildlife sanctuaries, hill stations, etc. with a direct train to Mysuru.

Considering the pilgrimage & tourism potential, Railways should expedite the proposal of introducing the new biweekly train between Mysuru & Okha/Rajkot.
