Madhya Pradesh, June 10, 2024 — Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) has announced plans to set up a 1500 KTA Ethane Cracker Project at Ashta, in the Sehore district of Madhya Pradesh. The proposed project, which will focus on the production of various ethylene derivatives, aims to bolster the company’s growth and expand its capacity in the petrochemical sector.
GAIL has already submitted a formal request to the Madhya Pradesh State Government, seeking the necessary enablers to facilitate the project. The state government has responded positively and initiated the process to provide around 800 hectares of land through the MP Industrial Development Corporation Limited. This step marks a significant move towards materializing the project, which is expected to bring substantial economic benefits to the region.
The total projected investment for the Ethane Cracker Project is estimated to be around Rs. 60,000 crore. However, the mode of financing for this large-scale investment is yet to be determined. The project is poised to significantly increase GAIL’s production capacity, further solidifying its position in the industry.
GAIL’s Board of Directors will seek investment approval once the state government finalizes the required enablers. This project not only represents a major investment in the region but also underscores GAIL’s commitment to expanding its business and enhancing its production capabilities.
The successful establishment of the Ethane Cracker Project will mark a significant milestone in GAIL’s growth strategy, positioning the company for long-term success in the petrochemical industry.
