Bengaluru, September 2, 2024: Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd., a leader in innovative lighting solutions, has successfully completed a landmark LED street lighting project on Bengaluru’s Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR). This initiative, carried out in partnership with Shankaranarayana Construction Pvt. Ltd (SNC) for the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) – NH648, represents a significant step towards improving road safety along this crucial national highway.

The 280-kilometer STRR is a vital infrastructure project designed to connect 12 major towns around Bengaluru, easing traffic congestion and fostering economic growth in the region. Crompton, as the leading OEM lighting solution provider for NHAI projects, played a crucial role in illuminating a critical 42-kilometer corridor between Dobaspete and Doddaballapur with state-of-the-art LED street lights, ensuring the project’s success.

To meet the stringent illumination standards set by NHAI, Crompton engineered an advanced lighting design that ensures optimal visibility for all road users. The project involved the deployment of over 2,000 high-efficiency streetlights ranging from 220W to 270W, along with the installation of more than 1,300 poles. This has significantly enhanced road safety while reducing electricity consumption by up to 50% compared to traditional lighting solutions.

Key features include robust construction with pressure die-cast aluminum housing, enhanced protection with toughened glass and IP66 ingress protection, optimal light distribution through advanced secondary optics, and superior performance with high lumen efficacy exceeding 125/135 lm/W. Additionally, the streetlights boast IK08 impact resistance and advanced electronics with potted drivers offering 4KV + 10KV surge protection, ensuring reliable operation.

The use of advanced lighting technology in this project not only improves road safety but also contributes to environmental conservation. Crompton’s LED streetlights offer up to 50% energy savings compared to traditional lighting technologies, leading to substantial reductions in carbon emissions. The improved visibility provided by these streetlights is expected to make commuting safer for all road users.

This project not only illuminates the STRR but also solidifies Crompton’s position as a frontrunner in delivering optimal lighting solutions for national highways and expressways. It showcases the company’s commitment to creating brighter and safer road infrastructure across India.
