Conversion of Vasco Da Gama-Patna Weekly Express to LHB stock

South Western Railway takes a significant step towards improving passenger experience.

Vasco, January 23, 2024: In a proactive move aimed at enhancing passenger safety and comfort, the South Western Railway (SWR) has announced the conversion of o­ne rake of Train Nos. 12741/12742 Vasco Da Gama-Patna-Vasco Da Gama Weekly Express from conventional to Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) stock.

This conversion is scheduled to come into effect from January 24, 2024, for the train departing from Vasco-Da-Gama, and from January 27, 2024, for the train departing from Patna Junction.

Transition to LHB Rakes

The decision to transition to LHB rakes is driven by the railway’s commitment to providing a safer and more comfortable travel experience for passengers. LHB coaches are known for their advanced safety features and improved ride quality.

Revised Composition of the LHB Rake

The revised composition of the LHB rake for the Vasco Da Gama-Patna Weekly Express will consist of 21 coaches, offering a well-balanced mix of travel classes and facilities. The new composition includes:

  • AC Two-tier – 2 coaches
  • AC Three-tier – 2 coaches
  • Sleeper Class – 10 coaches
  • General Second Class Antodaya – 4 coaches
  • Parcel Van – 1 coach
  • Generator Car with Luggage and Brake Van – 1 coach
  • Second Class cum Luggage & Brake Van with Disabled Friendly Compartment – 1 coach

Improved Passenger Experience

Passengers can expect an improved travel experience with the introduction of LHB coaches, known for their superior suspension systems, better safety features, and enhanced comfort. Implementation Schedule

The conversion is set to take effect on January 24, 2024, for the Vasco Da Gama departure and from January 27, 2024, for the Patna Junction departure. Passengers are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly and enjoy the upgraded travel amenities provided by the newly introduced LHB rake.
