Bengaluru, June 19, 2024 – Brigade Group, a prominent real estate developer, has announced plans to construct a third World Trade Center (WTC) tower at Infopark Kochi. The land lease agreement for this project was signed today in a ceremony attended by Kerala’s Chief Minister, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan, and other notable officials, including Shri P. Rajeeve, Minister for Law, Industries, and Coir; Dr. Rathan U. Kelkar, State IT Secretary; Susanth Kurunthil, CEO of Kochi Infopark; M.R. Jaishankar, Executive Chairman of Brigade Enterprises Limited; and Nirupa Shankar, Joint Managing Director of Brigade Enterprises Limited.
Key Highlights
- Investment and Project Scope: The Rs 150-crore project will see the development of a 16-storey tower with six levels of car parking. This non-SEZ structure will provide a built-up area of 2.6 lakh square feet and is expected to generate approximately 2,700 direct jobs upon completion in three years.
- Government Support: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan highlighted the rapid growth of Infopark, noting that since 2016, 583 new companies have established offices there, creating 70,000 jobs. He emphasized that the addition of the third WTC tower would further bolster the IT sector’s development in Kerala.
- Brigade Group’s Expansion: M.R. Jaishankar, Executive Chairman of Brigade Enterprises, expressed the company’s commitment to expanding in Kerala. “We are excited to increase our footprint in Kerala with this new WTC tower, catering to the growing IT and IT-enabled service companies in the state. Our existing WTC towers, with a combined built-up area of 7.7 lakh square feet, are fully occupied and house 37 companies employing 8,000 people,” he stated.
Expanding IT Infrastructure
Shri Kurunthil, CEO of Kochi Infopark, mentioned the increasing demand for non-SEZ buildings and highlighted that the new WTC tower would cater to the needs of prospective entrepreneurs and attract large companies.
