BCPL Begins Production at Burdwan Plant
BCPL Railway Infrastructure Limited has announced a new development. Its subsidiary, BCL Bio Energy Private Limited, has begun production. The production is happening at its 300 Ton Per Day (TPD) edible oil extraction plant in Burdwan, West Bengal. This new plant will produce crude edible oils such as rice bran oil and mustard oil.
A Step Towards Energy Independence
The plant is designed to extract crude oils from rice bran and mustard oil cake. The by-products of this process are called de-oiled cakes. They are often used as animal feed. They are also exported to countries like Bangladesh and Vietnam. This initiative aligns with India’s goal of reducing its dependency on imported edible oils, enhancing the country’s energy security.
Health Benefits and Sustainability Focus
Rice Bran Oil (RBO), one of the main products from this plant, is gaining popularity for its health benefits. It is used in a variety of industries, including food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and chemicals. By utilizing every part of the rice bran, BCL Bio Energy promotes sustainable production practices.
BCPL’s Stake in BCL Bio Energy
BCPL Railway Infrastructure Limited holds a 51% stake in BCL Bio Energy. This new production facility will contribute to the overall financial growth of BCPL. The company hopes to further expand its exports of de-oiled cakes to various countries, helping India earn foreign exchange.
