South Western Railway (SWR) has called tenders to construct a new Pavagada-Madakasira Railway Line. This project is part of the Tumakuru-Rayadurga New Railway Line initiative and spans 22 kilometers.
Project Overview
The new railway line will run between Chainage 84/000 and Chainage 106/000, with Pavagada and Madakasira being the key stations. The construction aims to enhance connectivity in the region and will be designed for trains to travel at speeds of up to 110 km/h.

Scope of Work
The project includes comprehensive construction efforts:
- Civil, Building, Electrical, and Telecommunication Works: These involve setting up the necessary infrastructure for the railway line.
- Track Works: Laying down the tracks to ensure smooth train operations.
- Major and Minor Bridges: Building three major and 32 minor bridges to facilitate the route.
- Road Bridges: Constructing 21 road under bridges and four road over bridges for seamless road traffic integration.
- Electrification and Signal Systems: Installing and commissioning electrical systems and signals for train operations.
Project Timeline and Cost
The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 265.92 crore, and it is expected to be completed in 18 months under the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) mode.

Tumakuru-Rayadurga New Railway Line
The Tumakuru-Rayadurga New Broad Gauge (BG) Line is a significant railway project in Karnataka, designed to enhance connectivity between Karnataka’s capital, Bengaluru, and Ballari via Tumakuru and Andhra Pradesh’s Rayadurga. Spanning approximately 213 kilometers, this line is expected to facilitate economic growth, improve transportation efficiency, and boost the development of Tumakuru district taluks.
The project will provide a vital infrastructure upgrade, easing the movement of goods and passengers and fostering socio-economic integration in the area. Additionally, the new line aims to serve as an alternate route between Bengaluru and Guntakal, thereby contributing to a more balanced and robust railway network in the region.
