Mumbai, May 26, 2024: Balu Forge Industries Ltd (BFIL) has achieved a significant milestone in its mission to become a prominent global player in the value-added critical forging and engineering segment. The company has announced a major expansion by setting up an advanced forging capacity of 72,000 tons annually. This expansion not only increases production capacity but also significantly enhances BFIL’s research and development capabilities, aligning with its vision to transition from a pure forging company to a value-added specialized critical engineering product company.
BFIL has recently acquired three state-of-the-art forging production lines, which include a 16-ton closed-die forging hammer, a 10-ton closed-die forging hammer, and an 8,000-ton capacity mechanical press. This advanced setup will be fully automated with the latest technology, featuring an anti-vibration system and robotic handling compliant with Industry 4.0 standards. These facilities will be installed at BFIL’s upcoming greenfield project in Belagavi, Karnataka.
New Forging unit in Belagavi to cater to multiple industries
The new forging unit will integrate seamlessly with the precision machining unit recently acquired from Mercedes Benz. This integration will enhance BFIL’s product engineering capabilities and expand its precision product offerings to global majors in critical engineering and safety components. This consolidation will provide end-to-end solutions under one roof, catering to industries such as oil and gas, aerospace, defense, railways, mining, aluminum, and auto parts manufacturing.
The 16-ton closed-die forging hammer, one of the largest in the country, can produce forgings weighing up to 800-900 kilograms. This capacity is further augmented by the 10-ton closed-die forging hammer line and the 8,000-ton capacity mechanical forging press. These facilities position BFIL to advance its presence in critical engineering sectors and meet the growing demands of the market.
This acquisition strengthens BFIL’s portfolio of critical engineering products and enhances its R&D capabilities in alloy mixing and metal combinations. It provides the company with the unique ability to create products from various alloys, ranging from aluminum to titanium. This capability will enable BFIL to expand its product offerings to major growth industries and capture the OEM market across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
BFIL, a leader in precision engineering, engaged in the manufacturing of crankshafts and forged components, will seamlessly integrate these newly acquired forging lines with its precision engineering expansion at the upcoming Belagavi campus. This integration will transform BFIL into a fully integrated precision machining solution provider for critical industries globally.
