Indian Railways has initiated the process to construct a new broad gauge (BG) line between Tumakuru and Koratagere by inviting bids. Total length of the line is 30.20 KM running from Chainage 300 to Chainage 30500 in EPC mode. This new line is a part of Tumakuru – Rayadurga railway line.
The request for proposal includes the construction of new BG Railway Gauge Line, Railway Signal Telecommunication works and Electrical General Works between Tumakuru to Koratagere(incl) Stations in the Tumakuru – Rayadurga New Line project.
Estimated Project Cost (in Rs. Crore): 270.317 Cr.
Period of Completion: 14 Months

Tumakuru and Urukere Railway Station will become Junction
- Bengaluru End – Tumakuru Railway Station – Arasikere/Rayadurga End
- Tumakuru End – Urukere Railway Station – Davangere/Rayadurga End
Tumakuru – Rayadurga new railway line will provide an alternate route between Ballari and Bengaluru with almost the same distance when compared to the Guntakal route.
