Inauguration of Pune Metro and Solapur Airport
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched several key projects in Maharashtra worth over ₹11,200 crore. Among the highlighted projects were the inauguration of the Pune Metro section from District Court to Swargate. The newly revamped Solapur Airport was also highlighted. These developments aim to improve transportation and boost economic growth in the region.
Modi emphasized the importance of the Solapur Airport, which now offers direct air connectivity, benefiting both locals and tourists. The revamped airport will serve over 400,000 passengers annually and is expected to enhance business, industry, and tourism.
New Memorial for Women’s Education Pioneer Savitribai Phule
A foundation stone was laid for the Memorial for Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule’s First Girls’ School at Bhidewada. Prime Minister Modi honored Savitribai Phule’s contributions to women’s education and empowerment. He stated, “Great personalities like Savitribai Phule opened the doors of education that were closed for daughters.” The memorial will include a skill development center, a library, and facilities aimed at preserving Phule’s legacy.
Bidkin Industrial Area to Boost Jobs and Investments
Modi also dedicated the Bidkin Industrial Area, located on the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, to the nation. This project is expected to attract significant investments and create jobs for the youth in Maharashtra. The Prime Minister highlighted how modern infrastructure, like Bidkin, helps in creating future opportunities while maintaining India’s cultural values.
A Focus on Urban Development
During the virtual event, Prime Minister Modi discussed the expansion of the Pune Metro system. He laid the foundation for the Swargate-Katraj extension alongside the current inauguration. This marks a further push towards improving the city’s public transportation. PM highlighted the rapid progress made since 2016, contrasting it with earlier delays.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to improving urban living standards. He said, “We are moving at a fast pace. We are moving in the direction of our dream of increasing the Ease of Living in Pune city.”
Women’s Empowerment and Social Progress
In his address, the Prime Minister also touched upon the importance of women’s empowerment. He referred to key government initiatives that promote education, safety, and equal opportunities for women. He praised the efforts of Savitribai Phule and expressed hope that the memorial would inspire future generations.
Concluding his speech, Prime Minister Modi reiterated the importance of Maharashtra in India’s journey toward development. He emphasized the state’s role in creating a “Viksit Maharashtra, Viksit Bharat” (Developed Maharashtra, Developed India). These newly launched projects are expected to significantly boost Maharashtra’s infrastructure, economy, and social development.
