NHAI and GSI Join Hands for Stronger Highways

In a move aimed at bolstering the country’s National Highways network, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has partnered with the Geological Survey of India (GSI) to enhance geotechnical consultancy services.

This collaboration, sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), intends to fortify the construction of highways across the nation.

Signing of the MoU

The MoU was inked in the presence of NHAI Chairman, Shri Santosh Kumar Yadav, and Dr. Saibal Ghosh, Deputy Director General of Geological Survey of India, alongside other esteemed officials from both entities.

Scope of the Agreement

Under the agreement, the Geological Survey of India will extend geotechnical consultancy services tailored to specific sites. These services encompass the preparation of geological maps detailing the terrain’s features, conducting slope stability studies for roads, pinpointing geologically fragile zones along National Highways, proposing site-specific remedial measures, executing 3D geological logging for tunnels within projects, and offering relevant stabilization recommendations. Additionally, GSI will undertake a meticulous analysis of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) crafted by NHAI consultants.
