New Delhi, January 19, 2024: The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, has given the green light for a significant development in Karnataka. A substantial amount of Rs 343.74 Crore has been allocated for the expansion of the Mangaluru-Mudigere-Tumkuru section of NH-73 (National Highway 73).
This initiative aims to transform the current road into a 2-lane pathway with paved shoulders.

Key Details of the Project
Spanning a distance of 10.8 km from Mangaluru-Mudigere-Tumkuru section of NH-73, this project is set to be executed under the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) mode. The focus of the expansion is on enhancing connectivity in the region by upgrading the existing infrastructure.

Challenges and Terrain
Shri Gadkari highlighted the challenges involved in negotiating hilly and mountainous landscapes, particularly emphasizing the Charmadi Ghat. Despite these challenges, the initiative is poised to bring about a substantial improvement in connectivity, benefiting the people in the region.
This move reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing the country’s road infrastructure, particularly in challenging terrains, to promote smoother transportation and connectivity across different regions.
