Mumbai, 1 July 2024: The Maharashtra State Transport Corporation (MSRTC), one of the largest state transport undertakings in India, has awarded Ashok Leyland the single largest order for the supply of 2104 Viking passenger buses. These modern, fully built buses will be fully compliant with the latest Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) standards, featuring AIS 153 compliant bodies. They will be equipped with the proven iGEN6 BS VI OBD II technology, 197 HP H-Series Engines, and rear air suspension, among other significant features.
The buses will be manufactured at Ashok Leyland’s state-of-the-art bus body plants, ensuring enhanced safety, improved comfort, and a lower total cost of ownership for MSRTC. This substantial order reflects the robust capabilities and reliable technology that Ashok Leyland offers.
Particulars of the Order:
- Supply of fully built BSVI OBD II diesel-fueled passenger buses.
- The order will be executed between August 2024 and August 2025.
- The total contract value is approximately Rs. 981.45 Crores for 2104 buses.
