The ISKCON Mysuru Brindavan project is a significant endeavor undertaken by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) in the city of Mysuru. This ambitious project aims to establish a spiritual and cultural complex that embodies the teachings and principles of the Hare Krishna movement.

The project is centered around the construction of a magnificent temple dedicated to Lord Krishna. The temple, inspired by the grandeur of Indian architecture, is being built on a sprawling landscape with lush greenery and serene surroundings. The design incorporates intricate carvings, ornate decorations, and traditional motifs, providing a breathtaking visual experience to visitors.

Krishna – This lord of the Universe

The main deity of the temple will be Lord Krishna, accompanied by Radha, His eternal consort. The temple will serve as a focal point for devotees to worship, meditate, and seek spiritual solace. It will also house various altars dedicated to other deities, allowing followers to pay their respects and deepen their spiritual connection.

Apart from the temple, the ISKCON Mysuru Brindavan project includes several other facilities and amenities to cater to the needs of devotees and visitors. These include a meditation hall for contemplative practices, a community hall for gatherings and events, a vegetarian restaurant offering prasadam (sanctified food), and a Vedic library providing a vast collection of spiritual texts.

A place where spirituality meets culture & heritage

The project also emphasizes the preservation and promotion of Indian culture and heritage. It intends to showcase traditional art forms, music, and dance through cultural programs and exhibitions. Additionally, the complex will feature a museum that showcases the life and teachings of Lord Krishna and the philosophy of the Hare Krishna movement.

A brief about the Project 

NAVA BRINDAVAN DHAM will house a 60 meter temple and cultural center spread across 9 acres. The architecture of this center will be a blend of ancient and modern architecture. Especially the Hoysala style of architecture with sculptures depicting the stories from epics like Mahabharata, Ramayana, Bhagavata will be a festive attraction.

A eco-friendly project

The construction of this monumental building will be in accordance with all the rules and laws laid out by the government including zero-waste management, rain water harvesting, and various other eco-friendly measures. It is also of special mention that it would be an earthquake-proof building. The glass-covered towers of the temple would be a center of attraction even from great distances. The temple pond for boat festivals and large open air theater for outdoor festivals would be an added beauty to this cultural center.

Focus is on spreading Bhagavad geetha & Bhagavatam

To facilitate the teaching and propagation of the message of the Supreme Lord from Bhagavad-Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam, this temple will also consist of high-tech lecture halls and conference rooms. To further promote the cultural heritage of this cultural city, cultural events like musical concerts, dance festivals, etc. would also be held in the premises of these halls. The center would also consist of a huge library to further the interests of spiritually-inclined readers. Furthermore, special programs would be conducted for the youths to guide them through their life to achieve the perfection of human energy.

Hari Sankeertana and Yajnas for societal wellbeing

A Harinama mantapa is also being planned to proclaim sankirtana or chanting of the Holy Name of Lord as the only and best means for emancipation from all distress in this age of Kali for all people. The beautiful deities of Their Lordships Radhakrishna, Krishna Balarama, Gaura Nitai, and Anantha Padmanabhaswamy would be installed in this temple according to Vedic tradition. The temple would also comprise of yajnashalas to conduct various vedic yajnas (fire sacrifices).

Temple timing and activities

The temple would be brimming with devotional activities right from early morning 4 a.m. till 9 p.m. For the visiting devotees of this temple, proper boarding and prasadam facilities including a Nitya Annada Hall are also being conceived of. To propagate Sattvic lifestyle among family, children, and youth, ISKCON would also be conducting various programs from this center.

Modernity/ technology meets tradition

The sound and light show and the various colored fountains would not only provide an appropriate backdrop to the various festivals of ISKCON, but also an out-of-world experience to the tourists of this temple. Thus, this center would be an added major destination to the tourists of this heritage city Mysuru.
