Udaipur, June 20, 2024 – Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL), India’s largest and the world’s second-largest zinc producer, has entered into a significant partnership with AEsir Technologies, Inc., a US-based company specializing in next-generation zinc battery technologies. Through this memorandum of understanding (MoU), Hindustan Zinc aims to support the ongoing global energy transition by supplying zinc, a crucial component in AEsir’s innovative battery solutions.

  2. Preferred Zinc Supplier: Under the agreement, Hindustan Zinc will be the preferred supplier of zinc for AEsir Technologies’ advanced battery production. This ensures a steady and high-quality supply of a key raw material for AEsir’s cutting-edge battery technologies.
  3. Advancing Energy Storage: Zinc-based batteries offer a compelling alternative to current energy storage solutions. They deliver higher power output at reduced costs, require minimal maintenance, and have a lifespan of up to 20 years. These attributes make them ideal for large-scale industrial energy storage applications.

  • Superior Performance: Zinc batteries exhibit excellent corrosion resistance, cost-effectiveness, and recyclability. They offer stable performance over a wide temperature range and provide reliable backup power for durations ranging from 3 to 72 hours.
  • Safety and Environmental Impact: Zinc batteries are non-flammable, non-reactive to air and water, and do not produce toxic fumes. They use non-hazardous raw materials and have a greenhouse gas (GHG) footprint six times lower than other battery technologies, making them a safer and more sustainable energy storage option.
