Deshabandu Muttiah Muralitharan (DMM) – a Sri Lankan cricket coach, former professional cricketer, and businessman has big plans up his sleeves for business. He is venturing into Beverage business in India- A Chamarajanagar Beverage Project!.

DMM is starting his Indian business venture with an investment of Rs. 250 Crores to build a modern manufacturing unit for making milk-based beverages at Badanguppe Kellamballi Industrial area in Chamarajanagar district.  Muttiah Muralitharan’s company has purchased 45 acres of land for the project from the Karnataka Industrial development board (KIADB). The work on the Chamarajanagar Beverage project has started on the ground and is progressing at a brisk pace. As per the reports, the Chamarajanagar beverage project will generate around 900 direct employment, and many more will find indirect employment. 

Details of the products to be made at the Chamarajanagar Beverage unit

As per the available reports, the Chamarajanagar Beverage project will produce milk-based drinks – fruit milk, flavored milk, energy milk, and fruit juices.  The products will be distributed across India in small cans. The Indian market for canned milk products is expanding fast, and looking at the growing market, several MNCs have set up local manufacturing units to make and sell these products.

Brief introduction of DMM

Deshabandu Muttiah Muralitharan (DMM) boasts of an average of six wickets per Test match. He is widely regarded as the most successful and one of the greatest bowlers in the history of Cricket. He is the only bowler to take 800 Test wickets and more than 530 One Day International (ODI) wickets. He has taken more wickets in international cricket than any other bowler so far. DMM was a part of the Sri Lankan team that won the 1996 Cricket World Cup and has become a member of the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame since then.
