Bengaluru: BEML Ltd has successfully delivered Light Alloy Structures for the Launch Vehicle Mk-3 (LVM3) program to ISRO. This marks a significant achievement in India’s space exploration efforts.
A Major Milestone in Aerospace Manufacturing
In a ceremony held at BEML’s Aerospace hangar in Bangalore, Shri Ajit Kumar Srivastav handed over the Light Alloy Structures. He is BEML’s Director of Defence. These were handed over to Dr. Unnikrishnan Nair S, Director of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), ISRO.
The event was attended by other Functional Directors from BEML and senior officials from ISRO. This accomplishment highlights BEML’s ongoing commitment to supporting India’s space initiatives.
Expertise in High-Quality Structures for Space Programs
BEML’s Aerospace division has played a crucial role in manufacturing high-quality light alloy structures for various ISRO programs. The division has previously fabricated critical components. These include Retro Motor Casings for the PSLV program in 2018. They also include the Strap-on Base Shroud structure for the LVM3 in 2023.
To support these advanced projects, BEML has established a state-of-the-art Aerospace hangar at its Bangalore Complex. This hangar is equipped with the latest technology for precision fabrication. This facility includes advanced jigs, fixtures, and metrology instruments necessary for producing light alloy structures. It also has specialized technical skill sets for machining and surface treatment.
Expanding Capabilities in Aerospace Manufacturing
Over the years, BEML Aerospace has expanded its manufacturing capabilities to include critical airborne structures for missiles and aircraft. They supply components to organizations such as DRDL, BDL, HAL, and ADA.
The collaboration with ISRO began with the successful delivery of Retro Motor Casings for the PSLV program. BEML delivered approximately 60 RS1 motor casings to VSSC.

Shri Shantanu Roy, CMD of BEML, expressed pride in the company’s accomplishments. He also expressed gratitude for the support provided by VSSC. He emphasised BEML’s dedication to meeting ISRO’s expectations.
