Ashokapuram Railway Station to Host 8 New Train Services, Inaugural on 15

Former MP Pratap Simha Announces Railway Board Approval for Extended Services

In a significant boost to South Mysuru’s rail connectivity, the Railway Board has approved the extension of 8 pairs of trains to the newly remodeled Ashokapuram Railway Station. Former Mysuru MP Shri Pratap Simha shared the news on X formerly Twitter.

The extended trains include popular routes like the MGR Chennai-Mysuru Kaveri Express, Mysuru-KSR Bengaluru Malgudi Express, Mysuru-MGR Chennai day train and Kacheguda-Mysuru Express. Additionally, four MEMU train services between KSR Bengaluru and Mysuru.

According to former MP, the Minister of State for Railways Shri V Somanna will inaugurate the extended services and booking office on February 15 at 5:30 PM. The first phase will focus on MEMU services as per sources, with other trains to follow in the coming months as overhead water tank works are still underway.

The Ashokapuram Railway Station has undergone extensive remodeling at a cost of Rs. 15.7 crore for Phase 1 and Rs. 13.39 crore for Phase 2. The upgrades include three new platform lines, extended foot overbridge, and improved facilities like coach watering arrangements and stabling lines. These enhancements aim to improve operational efficiency and accommodate additional long-distance and MEMU services.

The station now features six platforms, extended foot overbridge connecting all platforms, and a second entrance towards Srirampura. These developments are expected to ease congestion at Mysuru Junction and enhance passenger convenience.
