Air India Expands International Routes: Key Upgrades in Northern Summer 2025 Schedule

New flights to the UK, Europe, Asia, and Africa, alongside fleet modernization, mark Air India’s growth strategy.

Air India has unveiled a significant expansion of its international route network as part of its Northern Summer 2025 schedule, effective from 30 March 2025. The airline is adding frequencies to key destinations across the UK, Europe, Asia, and Africa, while also progressing with its fleet modernization program.

Key Route Enhancements:

  • United Kingdom: Delhi-London Heathrow flights increase to 24x weekly, while Amritsar-Birmingham, Amritsar-London Gatwick, and Ahmedabad-London Gatwick routes see additional weekly flights.
  • Europe: Delhi-Zurich and Delhi-Vienna frequencies rise to 5x and 4x weekly, respectively.
  • Far East Asia: Delhi-Seoul (Incheon) increases to 5x weekly, and Delhi-Hong Kong switches to B787 Dreamliner aircraft.
  • Africa: Delhi-Nairobi flights grow to 4x weekly.

Fleet Modernization

Air India’s narrowbody aircraft modernization is on track for completion by mid-2025. The retrofit of legacy B787s begins in April 2025, with 2-3 aircraft upgraded monthly. However, the B777 retrofit program faces delays until early 2026 due to supplier constraints.

Route Suspensions

Due to fleet adjustments, Air India will temporarily suspend Mumbai-Melbourne and Kochi-London Gatwick routes from 30 March 2025.

This expansion and modernization reflect Air India’s commitment to enhancing global connectivity and passenger experience.
