The work involved laying 12 Turnouts and three Trap points on the existing 5th line and both Fast lines. It also included laying 8 Turnouts on the new 6th line while dismantling nine existing Turnouts and three Trap points from the existing lines. Independent connectivity to both the 5th and 6th lines was provided to Bandra Terminus Yard after slewing 700 meters of existing track and dismantling five points, including a diamond crossing.

The project utilized various heavy machinery such as T-28, UNIMAT, Duomatic, UTV, Hydraulic Cranes, and JCBs to ensure the smooth and efficient execution of the work.

Improving Connectivity and Accommodating Growth

The project also involved land acquisition, with both private and government land (BMC) being used. To enhance the alignment, 27 new Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) were constructed in place of existing FOBs that infringed on the alignment. Additionally, existing railway structures that obstructed the project were dismantled, making way for new structures, including 192 flats for Railway Quarters, six Electronic Interlocking (EI) buildings, two Traction Sub Station (TSS) buildings, and three Booking Offices.

In the process, around 607 Project Affected People (PAPs) were rehabilitated and provided with alternate allotments. Furthermore, nearly 1000 trees were relocated and transplanted to preserve the environment.
