Land Transfer for Film City in Mysuru

In a key meeting held yesterday, the Chief Minister and senior officials discussed the film city’s rapid establishment in Mysuru. They reviewed various aspects and strategies. One of the main points of discussion was the immediate transfer of 110 acres of land in Immavu village.

This land was identified by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB). This land will be handed over to the Department of Information and Public Relations to kickstart the project.

Tenders and Construction

Once the land is officially transferred, the next step involves inviting tenders for construction. The Chief Minister emphasised the need for speed. He urged officials to call for tenders to appoint a transaction advisor. This will be for the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model under which the film city will be developed.

A second phase of expansion was also highlighted, with an additional 50 acres to be identified for future growth. The Public Works Department will begin constructing a compound wall for the project site once the acquisition is complete.

Construction Timeline and Industry Involvement

The Chief Minister set a target for completing the film city within three years. He instructed that the film industry’s input should be carefully considered to ensure the facility meets all necessary requirements.

The vision is to model this new film city after Hyderabad’s famous Ramoji Film City. The new city will have advanced technology and facilities designed to cater to the demands of the film industry.

Officials were directed to study three major film cities across the country. The aim is to create a well-rounded and effective plan for Mysuru’s film city.

Boosting Tourism Alongside Film Production

In addition to being a hub for film production, the film city is expected to boost tourism in the region. The Department of Tourism has been asked to submit a proposal. The proposal should detail how this could be achieved. This would make the film city an attractive destination for both filmmakers and tourists alike.

Officials are preparing a comprehensive report on the film city’s structure. They focus on minimizing the financial burden on the government. This will ensure its successful and timely completion.
