IndiGo, India’s leading airline has announced the addition of Agatti Island, a picturesque gem nestled in the Lakshadweep archipelago, to its extensive network. With this addition, Agatti becomes the 88th domestic and 121st overall destination served by IndiGo’s 6E network. Commencing operations between Bengaluru and Agatti from March 31, 2024, this new route aims to provide direct connectivity, more travel options, and enhanced accessibility to Lakshadweep for tourists.
Agatti Island, one of Lakshadweep’s most sought-after destinations, boasts a 6 km-long stretch of land blessed with diverse marine life. Serving as the sole airstrip in the archipelago, Agatti Island acts as a gateway connecting Lakshadweep to the mainland. Renowned for its breathtaking beaches, ideal for activities such as deep-sea fishing, scuba diving, sailing, skiing, and kayaking, Agatti attracts travelers seeking adventure and tranquility alike. Moreover, the island serves as a perfect base for exploring nearby uninhabited islands such as Bangaram, Pitti, Thinnakara, Parali-I, and Parali-II.
By enhancing access to Bengaluru, India’s vibrant tech hub, IndiGo aims to facilitate increased tourism opportunities. Bengaluru offers tourists access to iconic landmarks such as Cubbon Park, Nandi Hills, Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace, Lal Bagh Botanical Gardens, Bengaluru Palace, Ulsoor Lake, and ISKCON Temple. Furthermore, visitors can explore the renowned Bangalore silk, known for its quality and texture, cultivated in the silk farms of Karnataka.
