Honeywell Automation India Limited (HAIL) has won a contract. They will provide their state-of-the-art Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) system for the Noida International Airport (NIA). This cutting-edge system will enhance visual guidance for aircraft, boosting safety and operational efficiency across the airfield.
The AGL system, equipped with ‘intelligent lighting’ technology, will improve aircraft maneuvering on the tarmac, particularly during challenging weather conditions. By integrating with aircraft surveillance and tracking systems, the lights will automatically adjust based on real-time information. This adjustment helps pilots navigate the ground safely. It also boosts situational awareness.
Atul Pai, Managing Director of HAIL, expressed pride in securing the project. He stated, “Noida International Airport represents a significant leap forward in advancing India’s aviation sector.” We are pleased to ensure the highest standards of safety and efficiency with our advanced technology.
Christoph Schnellmann, CEO of Noida International Airport, also commented on the partnership. He said, “The implementation of this advanced lighting system aligns with our mission. We aim to provide a safe and seamless experience for all airport users.”
The project will cover the installation and maintenance of Honeywell’s AGL system on runway 10L-28R and associated taxiways. The first phase of NIA is expected to handle 12 million passengers annually. Future expansions aim to serve up to 70 million passengers per year.
Honeywell continues to be a key player in India’s aviation sector. It offers comprehensive solutions that include design, manufacturing, installation, and support for AGL systems across the country.
